Nigeria’s globally acclaimed storyteller, film and documentary producer, Femi Odugbemi has been appointed to serve for a year on the esteemed International Engagement Committee of the Academy of Motion Picture, Arts and Sciences.
This committee is responsible for shaping the Academy’s global engagement strategy, focusing on key areas such as the membership process, governance, and impact programs.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is a global organization dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of motion pictures. Through its various programs, including the Oscars®, it celebrates and promotes excellence in filmmaking worldwide.
In the one-year appointment, which runs until June 30, 2025, Femi will collaborate with a diverse group of international professionals to help guide the Academy’s mission of global inclusivity and influence in the film industry.
An internationally celebrated filmmaker, storyteller and media content producer, Femi Odugbemi is currently Managing Director/CEO of ZURI24 Media, a content production and management company.
This is not the first time Femi is serving on a global body in the motion picture industry. For several years, he was the director of MultiChoice Talent Factory, West Africa where he nurtured many young talents in the creative industry to explore and horn their talents, a three-time head judge of the Uganda Film Festival (2014-2016), a juror for the 2016 British Council “Shakespeare Lives” project, the Emmy Awards in New York and the Academy Awards in 2018.
He is a co-Founder/Executive Director of the Foundation of the Promotion of documentary Film in Africa, otherwise known as the iREPRSENT Documentary Film Forum, organisers of the 13-year-old West Africa leading annual International documentary film Festival, iREP.
Inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame in Nigeria in November 2022, Femi is a past Academy Director of MultiChoice Talent Factory as well as a past President of the Independent Television Producers Association of Nigeria (ITPAN), in additional to belonging to numerous international bodies in the film and motion picture world.
