As part of activities marking her 60th anniversary celebrations, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations’ (NIPR) has inducted 605 new members. Among them are Mr. Ini Archibong, Strategy Director at Chastest Consult Limited and Hon. Akintunde Rotimi, House Committee Chairman on Public Affairs.

The induction ceremony which held at the NTA Arena, Garki Abuja, was part of a week-long celebration culminating in an International Colloquium, on June 20, 2024

The event was graced by the presence of Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi, Minister of Information and National Orientation, represented by Mr. Jibril Baba Ndace, Director-General of Voice of Nigeria. The Minister’s address highlighted the government’s recognition of public relations as a cornerstone of national development

“Public relations practitioners play a pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s image both domestically and internationally,” the Minister’s speech emphasized. “We urge all NIPR members to collaborate with the government in advancing our national interests and promoting unity within our diverse populace.

Dr. Ike Neliaku, NIPR President, outlined the Institute’s vision for the coming years. “As we celebrate six decades of excellence, we must also set our sights on the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead,” Dr. Neliaku stated. “Our focus will be on harnessing technology, amplifying professional development opportunities, and advocating for ethical communication practices across all sectors.

Commenting after induction, Archibong advocated for maintaining the highest ethical standards in the PR industry. “It is imperative that we, as PR professionals, safeguard the integrity of our profession. This necessitates actively discouraging unqualified practitioners and consistently delivering work that fosters positive change for our clients and society as a whole,” he said.
